How We Work

What We Promise — and What We Don’t

  • We never promise a duty rate until a licensed U.S. customs broker confirms it for the piece.
  • We never retouch flaws in photos. Every crack, repair, and replacement part is shown.
  • We document the age of every antique in writing, with an expert opinion for pieces over €5,000.
  • We’re a transparent intermediary: you see the dealer price and our fee.
  • Descriptions are drafted with AI and reviewed by a person. We disclose this on every listing.
  • We’re opening our first pilot projects. We’ll share real client results as they come in—never fabricated reviews.

Designer FAQs

Buying in France: Your Questions Answered

How does antique sourcing in France work?

Send us a brief with the piece, style, dimensions, budget, and deadline. We search our dealer network and send three documented options within 72 hours, each with photos, a condition report, age documentation, and a landed-cost quote. Once you approve, we reserve the piece and manage crating, export, freight, and brokerage paperwork.

Do antiques pay import duties in the U.S.?

Antiques over 100 years old may qualify under HTS 9706, with a zero general rate when requirements and documentation are met. Classification, provenance, and current measures must be confirmed for each piece. The 10% and 15% rates shown elsewhere in this calculator are illustrative scenarios, not guaranteed customs rates.

Who is the importer, and who pays the duties?

Goods ship DAP (Delivered at Place): you or your broker are the importer of record and pay duties on entry. Our quote shows estimated duties in advance, and we prepare the brokerage paperwork.

How long does delivery take?

2–3 weeks by air for smaller pieces, or 6–12 weeks by sea. We provide an estimated date with your quote and track every step through delivery.

Can I see the piece before I buy?

Yes. We can livestream from the dealer’s shop, show joinery and maker’s marks up close, and send photos of any details you request.

What if a piece arrives damaged?

Each piece ships in an export crate and is insured at its declared value door to door. Report damage within 5 days with photos, and we’ll handle the claim with the insurer.

Do you offer trade pricing?

Yes. Trade members receive monthly closeout pieces at trade pricing, and every quote separates the dealer price from our fee so you can set your own margin.
